The Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corporation (WPS) is based in Madison, Wisconsin. Founded in 1946, the charter mission of the WPS was to provide low-cost health insurance that would enable the residents of Wisconsin to afford their healthcare expenses.

Previously, WPS processed claims using several document communications systems, including a mix of purchased and in-house written systems on their mainframe. With these systems, WPS experienced system downtime along with numerous complaints regarding the quality and professionalism of documents. Using Cincom Document Solutions, Wisconsin Physicians service has improved its ability to efficiently handle claims processing, and has cut the average document-generation time and claimant call times by over 40%.

The Timken Company is a leading global manufacturer of highly engineered bearings and alloy steels, and a provider of related products and services with operations in 27 countries. The company applies its knowledge of friction management and power transmission to innovative solutions for customers that improve their performance.

Beginning in the early 70’s with Cincom TOTAL database management system, the original implementation has since evolved to the SUPRA PDM product suite, Cincom’s hierarchical, interactive database management system. Quickly was how Cincom responded when some of the Timken programmers needed to be trained. Cincom Education put a customized four-day, on-site training course together in a very short time.

Cincom Raises the Bar on Flexibility, Integration, and Future Functionality at Thales Underwater Systems

Thales Underwater Systems (TUS) was created in 1996 with the merging of Thomson Sintra Pacific and the sonar activities of GECMarconi. The Sydney based engineering and manufacturing company employs more than 500 people in designing and manufacturing underwater sonar equipment. Although TUS had previously outsourced its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to a service provider, they now wanted to take the system in-house, but with full functionality.

The new ERP system had to be flexible enough to support the culture of change that arises from constantly looking for ways to improve products. This meant coping with unusually deep bills of materials and with complex tracking of serial numbers of the numerous components within products – two capabilities offered by Cincom CONTROL. CONTROL software was able to provide full implementation and training in nine months, and improved decision-making and reporting capabilities.

Cincom Smalltalk™ Helps Texas Instruments Meet Defense Department Cost and Time-To-Market Requirements

In January 1989, the U.S. Department of Defense awarded Texas Instruments (TI) a contract to develop the wafer fab of the future. TI’s goal was to make the production of small batches of wafers economical. TI teamed leading-edge machinery and production techniques with a computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) system to oversee the entire wafer production process.

Cincom Smalltalk was chosen to develop the prototype for the application. Smalltalk enabled TI to develop the first fully integrated prototype of the CIM system in just six months, including the time spent training programmers to use Smalltalk. By exploiting VisualWorks’ portability, TI offered customers the flexibility of picking and choosing their preferred combination of platforms and was able to reduce the time to produce silicon wafers from 30 days to three, and the cost from hundreds of millions to $30 million.

The City of Tampa Solid Waste Department (SWD) provides refuse collection, disposal and recycling services for more than 80,000 residential and commercial customers. The SWD handles complaints and inquiries regarding its services. The department’s previous DOS based system no longer supported its needs, resulting in numerous complaints from citizens.

To help reverse the situation and improve service, the SWD implemented Cincom’s hosted Synchrony solution as its new customer service call center system. The Synchrony implementation enables the SWD to track actual call volume and agent activity – and the numbers have been a real “eye opener.”

Outbound Contact Center Realizes High Productivity and Increased Efficiency with Cincom and IBM Smart Business

Syrex Infoservices (Syrex), with headquarters in New Delhi, is one of the foremost domestic business process outsourcers engaged in collecting funds for underprivileged children on behalf of the renowned worldwide non-government organizations. After four months of investing in a new outbound dialer solution, Syrex’s management team was prompted to search for a new integrated contact center and communication platform that could significantly increase efficiency while reducing the overall cost of deployment.

After evaluating multiple vendors, Syrex decided to invest smartly and replace its existing dialer solution with the Cincom Synchrony Express all-in-one contact center solution on the IBM Smart Business platform. Syrex found that the major benefit of the Synchrony advanced outbound predictive-dialing solution is its ability to reduce agents’ wait time between calls and improve call volumes by 600 more connected calls per hour per business unit as compared to the competitive dialer product.
